    So I was about to buy a 12" side snare, and then I saw these guys out of the corner of my eye in a Tama catalog, and I was thinking they might be a nice substitute to the same old piccolo snare sound. Any one use these before? Comments? Thanks all!

    These are mini-timbales... you are not going to get a snare sound out of them! Well, it might sound like a 12" snare with the snares turned off. I myself prefer much smaller mini-timbales. I have a set of 6" and 8" that I should get out of the closet... very cool add-ons.

    You want a side snare? I'd go for a 10" I have one and it's GREAT! Nice contrast from the main snare. There are some cheapies out there to try.
